Pediatric Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner

The Pediatric Emergency Medicine APRN functions independently within parameters delineated by the supervising physician, assessing, diagnosing, and managing episodic illness, injuries, and acute exacerbations of chronic disease in pediatric patients. This role involves performing history and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, treating minor injuries, and prescribing medications. The APRN will document patient care services within the EMR and departmental records, and perform procedures within their scope of practice and demonstrated competency.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive and problem focused history and physician examinations
• Initiates emergency resuscitation and stabilization as necessary
• Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory tests and diagnostic tests with education and experience with establish protocol in collaborative relationship with supervising physicians
• Performs procedures as demonstrated through competency and identified in delineation of privileges
• Works effectively with physicians and other health care professionals as a member or leader of a health care team or professional group
• Participates in performance improvement activities, quality initiatives, and research
• Accountable to follow up all Infection Control standards and ensures proper use of Personal Protective Equipment per policy and procedures to ensure safe patient care
• Completes clinical documentation accurately and in a timely manner

Shift & Schedule

• Able to work weekends, holidays, and variable schedules

Requirements

• Master's degree or Doctor of Nursing practice (DNP) from an accredited school
• APRN State of Florida Licensure - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
• Certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Certification Program (AANP), or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
• American Heart Association PALS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
• American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
• Level II Background Check - finger printing background
• Successful completion of Credentialing by NCH Medical Administration required
• Pediatric Nurse Practitioner experience preferred
