Staff Data Scientist

Location: Sacramento, USA — Salary: $20–30 per hour.

About the Role

This position supports experimentation and valuation in the advancements business, driving data‑driven decision making across product and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the area of Experimentation for the Advancements Stage, identify and pursue research with high business impact, and build cases for prioritization and resource allocation.
• Build strong partnerships with cross‑functional teams from product, planning, operations, design, and customer research.
• Execute and present comprehensive analysis and experiments, share data insights, and champion a culture of evidence‑based decision making.
• Communicate findings using visualizations and machine‑learning tools, emphasizing impact and accountability to the broader Data Science & Engineering community.
• Serve as a thought leader within product, metrics, and planning teams for experimentation in the advancement domain.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate education in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• Staff‑level experience managing large‑scale data and leading cross‑functional initiatives.
• Strong analytical background in experimentation or other product analytics environments.
• Experience applying data science in consumer or UI contexts, or within flagship product‑focused groups such as behavioral science teams.
• Proven ability to articulate and influence stakeholders across multiple levels.
• Proficiency in SQL and programming in Python or R.
• Clear and concise communication of insights to large audiences.
• Coaching and collaborative skills, especially within your core domain.
• Experience steering programs at scale (e.g., initiatives, train‑the‑trainer, life‑cycle events) both in‑person and virtually.
