Job Title: Software Engineer Location: Oklahoma City, USA Salary: $20-30/Hour Job Summary The Dev Areas team’s mission is to aid developer productivity by providing Netflix engineers with on‑call, batteries‑included improvement environments. These environments integrate tightly with JetBrains IDEs, developer tooling, cloud workspaces, and Netflix’s internal Platform to minimize friction and reduce context switching throughout the development lifecycle. Responsibilities - Integrate IntelliJ and other JetBrains IDEs with our fledgling inner remote workspace product to offer an intuitive and familiar improvement experience. - Build tooling, reusable libraries, and techniques that simplify creating, testing, and distributing IDE plugins for other groups. - Work with Platform teams to embed context and guidance into the IDE, such as automatically adding hyperlinks to API documentation, providing style recommendations, and enabling in‑IDE flows for federated search or Q&A. - Set up user engagement and platform collaboration for the new environment. Requirements - Experience building tooling for engineers, including IDEs, CLIs, or web UIs. - Product‑centric mindset with strong ability to understand user needs and design scalable, engineering solutions that meet those needs. - Comfortable working through ambiguity in a green‑field opportunity with many unanswered questions. - Effective communication skills to collaborate with and influence cross‑functional teams without a strict top‑down mandate. - Professional-level talent in a JVM language (e.g., Java, Kotlin) or JavaScript/TypeScript. - Nice to have: prior experience writing plugins for JetBrains IDEs (e.g., IntelliJ, PyCharm) or extensions for VSCode.
